It's official, I got a serious shopping problem. Having money = spending money! But when I came home I found a stupid bill in the mailbox, so back it all goes (except a skarf, a pair jeans that I've already worn and maybe a sweater). 40 % off = you can get almost the double. Not a good policy. It suck, I don't mean too. The only solution is to stop bringing my mastercard to work, get a shopping budget, and have shopping free weeks (try days) and use what I have. Which is quite a lot! It's as simple as that, but when you're a "holic" as in shopaholic, it's not easy. The urge you get when shiny new products arrives at the store, all the things you want to wear and combine with what you already got. Why? The things I got are worn once or twice, five times tops, looks as good as new. It's sick!
All the outfits I can put together, it's endless. And it's not a shame to wear favorites till they're coming apart, that's why they're called favorites.
I think one of the reasons why I am so obsessed with clothes and stuff, well, I'm surrendered by them all day, working with them, it's my job, but it's also because of all the magazines and blogs that seems to have an endless shopping budget, and no sentimentality what so ever when it comes to their clothes. You almost never see them in the same piece twice (maybe very plain basic pieces which can be used over, under, combined or make an outfit), and all I'm thinking; how do they do that? Where do they get the money? I want to try that too! I want Chanel 2.55! I want a YSL oval arty ring! It's so unfair! But honestly? Where do they get the money? And isn't it better to buy a lot of cheap stuff than some expensive pieces? Fashion changes all the time, so will what's "in" and "out" in your closet too, but a "basic" wardrobe remains. Getting what everybody else have is not the way to go, you rather get something special, that's you. But if you like it because you like it, then that's completely different.
And who is fashionable anyway? Those who follows the trends? If you can make the trend your own, then okay, but if you follow it brick by brick; you're a fashion victim. And these day's everybody (maybe not everybody, but MANY girls) are posting the same "shit" on their blogs (me included) trying to be the next big thing, having got a better clue than everybody else what's hot and what's not, being the most fashionable. We're the "pink" bloggers.
I really don't know why I can't stop obessing with fashion. I mean, I dress the way I want, maybe I'm inspired by a picture I've seen of somebody famous, or not so famous. Anyway, in the end, are we girls, magazines, TV-shows and so on just one big inspiration bubble for one another? And it's nothing wrong with that?
What do you guys think? Is it just a stupid pressure that I give into? Or shoud I keep it coming?
I'm not saying that I'm "all that", that I got any clue what so ever when it comes to whatever, I just like to blog and share things online. Keep my friends and family posted what's going on in my life, and my mom, grandmother and mother-in-law like clothes and stuff too, and I'm just posting what I'm wearing everyday as a style diary, and maybe, hopefully, it inspires someone too :)
Well, this was a rather long post, and I got a lot of other thoughts on the subject, but I feel like putting a "fashionable" period here.
PS! I'm not having any financial problems, just that I'm spending all my time and energy on fashion, and why can't I stop, don't I have other things to do? The answer is: actually... I don't. I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.
My name's Marita. I'm a musician and songwriter from Norway. I'm interested in music, books, movies, clothes and more.
