I'm so terribly behind on my blogging, still wrapping up October! Oh, well!
I read some Halloween-ish books for the month of Spooktober, and thought I'd share them with you! I try to read "seasonal" books whenever I can and if the vibe is right, but since I love vampire fiction and spooky reads all year round, it wasn't that big of a challenge in October.
I enjoyed "Sawkill Girls" very much! It was a very different kind of creepy read. Kinda fantasy, supernatural and a bit sci-fi all wrapped up in one thrilling story that kept me guessing till the end. Highly recommended!
"The Haunting of Hill House" was great! Loved the writing and story, and how diffuse some things were, keeping you in suspense.
"Fang Girl" was highly enjoyable, and so me! I am a fang girl! Vampire lover deluxe! High-paced, fun and action packed! Fangtastic!
It took me three books before I managed to get through short tale "The Vampyre".. I learned of this tale in the movie "Mary Shelley", and thought I'd check it out, but me and ooold, classic works do no mesh! It's so boring! Sorry-not-sorry!
"The Last Werewolf" was kinda good, but a bit hard to get into because of how it's written. Not very complicated, but somewhat different. Kinda Dracula-ish, but not. Good story though, action packed and mostly high paced. I might want to read the two other books as well.
"Hocus Pocus & The All-New Sequel" was okay. Part I is basically the movie, so that was kinda boring, and part II, the new sequel, didn't quite do it for me. Nice to have read though. I might be too old for the book version, but love the movie!
So, these were the books I read in October. I don't think I'll top last year's final book count though; 35 books. I'm 2-3 books from it. But maybe I can top it with some short ones, haha! I'm only competing with myself, but if I can't make time and feel like sitting down with a book, which I haven't for two weeks now, it's not a crime.
There's always next year!
