There is no secret that I love clothes, shoes and accessories. Someone would say too much, and that I shop and spend too much money on superficial things, but clothes and stuff make me happy!
I'm lucky enough to work with clothes every day, which also gives me a reason to dress up five or six times a week. And I like to put together a different outfit everyday, so I get to use what I have in several ways, and with the new stuff I get.
Working with clothes means that you should be creative and put together new styles to inspire the customers, and yourself to experiment with all sides of your personality. At least till you find your style.
I'm getting more and more confident with my style and what I like to wear everyday. I know that I love almost everything with studs, skulls, leather, black, band prints and other cool pieces that are 80s inspired or just wicked and rockish.
I think my style is rockish, simple and feminine. I don't like too many layers, and pieces that are just too much for my taste. I can't wear something too cute, too classic, too plain or too colorful, then I'll puke, and throw it away. I like to dress like my idols, or at least inspired by them. I love when TJ says "That outfit was a little early Ian Gillan (Deep Purple vocalist) inspired", or "Wow! What a cool outfit!" when I wear a Motörhead t-shirt and a bullet belt.
I love hard rock and heavy metal, and I love to bring rockish elements into all of my outfits. Which is why I'm always on the lookout for cool new pieces to expand my wardrobe.
If something doesn't work, I throw it out, and if it works, it works.
And even though I post a lot of the stuff I find on the net, and that I order a lot of it, doesn't mean that I keep it all. It doesn't all fit or work the way I pictured it. But I do keep a lot, and I do spend a lot of money on my wardrobe. No one is holding a gun to my head, I just like to spend my money on a studded leather jacket or a pair of studded Jeffery Campbell shoes.
"Born to shop, forced to work" says a refrigerator magnet of mine. I look at it and sigh everyday. Sometimes I dream of fashion weeks, working as a personal shopping assistant, a fashion consultant or a fashion editor, but dreams should sometimes just remain dreams. It's a beautiful world to escape into, and fashion is art. An expression. People without a personal fashion sense doesn't know what they're missing. Clothes are great, and shopping and putting together an outfit is fun.
I don't know why I started writing this post, or where I'm getting at, I just want the people who doesn't like shopping or clothes that much to don't look down on the people who do. And for the people who do enjoy the art of fashion, keep on expressing yourself, and dare to dare more!
My name's Marita. I'm a musician and songwriter from Norway. I'm interested in music, books, movies, clothes and more.
