Tj and I went to Kr. Sund to see Blaze Bayley and Paul Di'Anno live on May 1th.
If you don't know who Blaze Bayley and Paul Di'Anno are - shame on you - but here are some facts:
- Paul Di'Anno was the first singer in Iron Maiden (1978 - 1981). He sang on the two first ablums ("Iron Maiden" from 1980 and "Killers" from 1981)
- Blaze Bayley was the singer in Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999 when Bruce Dickinson left. He sang on the two Maiden albums "The X-Factor" from 1995 and "Virtual XI" from 1998
Anyway, it was two very great shows:
Blaze performed mostly songs from his two Maiden albums, "The X-Factor" and "Virtual XI", and Di'Anno from the two first Maiden albums, "Iron Maiden" and "Killers".
I'm not so familiar with Blaze's Maiden stuff, I'm more into his band Wolfsbane, but the songs were amazing live, and he's a first class showman and entertainer.
Songs like "Man on the Edge" and "Future Real" (which I knew from before) kicked ass, and "Fear of the Dark" lifted the roof.
Paul Di'Anno's set kicked ass too! One hit after the other like "Wrathchild", "Prowler" and "Iron Maiden" hit you right in your metal gut! And it was great to hear those songs live.
The sound guy didn't do such a great job, but Paul pulled through and he sounded amazing!
The band who played with both of them were so tight, and did a great job!
It didn't show up all that many metal heads, but 250 people sure made some noise, and we had a great time :)
We got to meet Blaze Bayley before the show. We bought four signed CDs, and we had our picture taken with him. So now we got some pictures we can use in the cover of our single "Iron Eyes" where he has recorded the vocals. The single will be released this summer, so stay tuned!
So, all in all, a really GREAT show! You just gotta get of your ass and go see the bands you like, and support them! You can't be a spoiled brat sitting around the house taking the metal scene for granted. They are metal gods, but they aren't gonna be here forever.
Long live heavy metal, and the kings of metal! \m/
