I did an interview with my very talented friend and designer, Daniela, behind the brand "Vicious Arrow Design". Please go and like her facebook page >HERE< |
I have always loved being creative and making clothes. After I finished 9th grade I decided that I wanted to start sewing more and learn more about it, so I started studying to become an artisan. I studied 3 years in a vocational school called Axxell and I took the exam in May 2014.
- How did you come up with the name "Vicious Arrow"? Did you have other names?
It took me a very long time to decide what name I wanted to use for my brand. I did have another name first, but I felt that it wasn't the right name. The biggest inspiration for the name ”Vicious Arrow” I got from the song ”Just Like An Arrow” by Magnum. I also love fantasy, elves and other stuff like that so I thought ”arrow” would be cool to have in the name and ”vicious” just came from somewhere in my mind, that's how it ended up to be ”Vicious Arrow”.
- Do you remember the first piece you ever made?
The first piece I ever made (before I started with Vicious Arrow) was a black button up shirt that I made in school. I also sewed the contours of the Slayer logo on the back of the shirt. It was the first serious product I sewed, before that I have been sewing alot of gothic skirts and tops.
- What inspire you when you make a piece of clothing/collection? How do you develope an idea to an actual piece. Do you draw first?
I get inspired by the music I listen to; 80's & power metal. Doro Pesch is my biggest inspiration to almost everything. I usually have a little sketch book with me just in case I would get an idea and feel the need to sketch it down so I'll remember it.
It depends on what mood I'm in, but I spend quite alot of time making clothes when I'm in the right mood. Sometimes I can sit for 10 hours straight and just sew.
- Do you get many custom orders?
I get a few sometimes. I think one of the reasons why I don't get a lot of custom orders is because not that many know about Vicious Arrow Design. I really love making custom orders and I do spend alot of time on one custom order since I want the measurements, stitching and decorations to be perfect, and yes I am a perfectionst when it comes to creating stuff.
- Where do you get all your amazing material for the clothes? Or is that a secret? ;)
Mostly I go to fabric stores and buy fabric because then I'm sure I get the right kind of fabric that I need, but I also order fabrics online. I do also recycle some materials.
- Do you only wear your own design? What do you wear on an everyday basis?
I don't only wear my own design, but I do wear something I've made almost everyday. On a everyday basis I mostly wear a pair of skinny jeans or spandex pants, a band t-shirt that is cut into a top, a cool belt and I always wear rings or other accessories.
Yes, it's one of my biggest hobbies and I think it's a part of my lifestyle since I could not be without sewing because it's what I love to do.
- What else do you do? Work, school?
I draw and paint as much as I can. Atm I'm looking for a job, but I do work somedays.
- What's your goal with this line? Near future plan?
My goal is to learn more, create more and most of all just enjoy what I'm doing. I don't have any big future plans, but I'm thinking about designing new interesting designs. I've already started working on some designs and ideas. In the future I might also start making collections.
- Who would you like to see in your clothes/designs?
Everyone, haha! No but I'm glad if people like my designs, I think it would be cool to see Doro or any other amazing artist in my designs.
I love Doro's style, her style is so amazing! I also love the style Johnny Depp has... There are so many with great style, also a lot of artists from the 80's.
- Describe your perfect/favorite outfit?
A pair of high wasted skinny jeans with a wide belt that has a beautiful decorative buckle combined with a studded crop top and a cool vest/jacket.
- Biggest thing accomplished yet?
Just getting better and better every day and to continue following my dream.
- Your all-time favorite piece you've made so far?
Hmm... That's a hard question, but I think I have to say that my favorite piece I've made might be the exam dress I made for myself. It was the very first dress I made and I put so much time into it, also it was a very fun project to do.
